Bastia and a 12km test ride

After a beautiful sunrise, we all met up to get the bikes organised. There are nine of us hiring bikes with the remainder of people bringing their own.

It took a while for the hire bikes to arrive and after plenty of chatting, a few of us headed into town for a wander. After coffee, markets, wine tasting and lunch, it was time to head back to get organised before our 5pm test ride.

The roads are fairly average with lots of traffic and potholes, so it was a cautious ride for me. After a quick stop and a few minor bike adjustments at the top of the climb, it was time to head down again as we had a dinner booking for the group.

The descent was fine until I hit a bump and my handlebars rolled forward. I managed to stay on the bike and upright, until I could pull off the road. Luckily Chris was behind me and able to get it sorted. I almost needed a defibrillator after that though! So that’s my ‘one and done’ incident!
