LLC Corte to Bastia 94km/1254m

We left Corte knowing it was going to be a hot ride today. Chris, Lyndsey and James were outstanding support as we climbed and climbed, and descended and climbed some more. I found the last 20km particularly challenging on my own, in traffic and oh so hot. What a fabulous last day of riding after 633km over 7 days and almost 10,000m of climbing. Anyone who says you’re cheating on a pedal assist bike clearly hasn’t ridden one in the mountains. At one point it was so steep, I had to push the bike (25kg) to a flatter surface to be able to get back on. It’s all relative. Trying to ride a 25kg bike at 28-30km/hr with all assistance cutting out at 24km/hr is a challenge to say the least. I chose to drop the wheel in front and go it solo. C’est la vie!

I’m off to Paris tomorrow to prepare for my hike from Povoa to SDC. Fingers crossed the archilles holds up and all goes to plan.
