LLC Porto to Corte 85km/1750m

Today was questionable as to whether I could ride given my achilles tendonitis. I’ve strapped, iced and massaged it, so it was always the plan to see how things went with the option to stop at any point.

The first part of the ride was the Col de Vergio at 1467m, a 36km climb. It was actually a lovely climb with an average of 4.3% and the steepest section 9.4%. The worst part were the trucks that kept coming up and down for the first half of the ride. At one point of the climb, I was forced off the road. This happened again on the descent into Corte. It’s something I’ve experienced on the French mainland only once in more than 12000km. It’s such a shame because it taints the whole ride for me.

  1. I hope your legs hold up for you. A great adventure, but the trucks must be scary. You’re very brave. Meg x
